I and my husband live in Houston, TX in park on memorial apartments. My apartment building was submerged under water during Harvey and we were evacuated for 2.5 weeks (we are on the 3rd floor, the first floor was submerged) . The apartment management (parent company is finger companies) asked us to move in as soon as the power was back on and didn’t check for any mold or any other pollutants. they changed the A.C vents only 2 months later. we kept falling sick every now and then and in November my husband contracted a virulent oral infection- the cause of which was determined to be environmental. on top of that, after Harvey, they have been illegally renting apartments – there is someone else on paper and the actual resident is someone else. I was privy to a loud altercation between a male and female person with murderous threats from the apartment below mine and when I reported this, the manager Jessica Sanfiel claimed full knowledge and said that there isnt supposed to be a male person on the lease and that they dont know who is living there.
And they have been rebuilding the 1st floor apartment ever since September(it still isn’t over). on top of that center point energy is doing some construction next door and they start with heavy machinery at 7 AM and do it throughout the day. I have begged pleaded, written letters, emails etc to the management to let us out of the lease. The corporate management is absolutely invisible. There is no way to contact them and we can only talk to the apartment manager- Jessica Sanfiel. She has quoted an amount which 1.5 times the amount that would cost to keep the apartment, to let us out. We cannot afford that. We have already moved out as we cannot afford the medical bills if we stay in this apartment.
I need help to complain about the state of things in my apartment complex- the noise and the health hazards.
Please look the other way, It was HELL LIVING in Coral Island Apartments. I STAYED HOT IN HOUSTON’S TEXAS SUMMERS ALL THE TIME FROM NO AIR CONDITIONER. THEY ARE PREJUDICE AGAINST TENANTS THEY RECEIVE HOUSINGS AND WILL THREATEN THEM CONCERNING THEY VOUCHERS AND MAKE THEM PAY ALL OUTRAGEOUS FEES, ETC… THE APARTMENT IS FULL OF MOLD, BLACK MOLD, AND ROTTED WOOD ALL ALONG THE WALLS AND MORE. THE walls cracked EVERY WHERE AND EVERY WHICH A WAY. WHITE PAINT SEEMS TO BE A REMEDY THEY USE FOR THERE MAINTENANCE ISSUES QUITE A BIT. WHITE PAINT IS ALL INSIDE THE A/C VENTS, THE AIR CONDITIONER, TO NAME ONLY A FEW WHEN IT COMES TO THE WHITE PLAINT. I HAVE PICTURES OF IT. THEY HAVE PROBLEMS A LOT WITH THERE PLUMBING , AND WATER ISSUES, THEY TURN IT ON AND OFF, AND DONT TELL THE TENANTS THEY DOING SO. THERE TOILET BOWL WHICH IS MOLDY AND VERY SOUR SMELLING ON ITS ON. THE A/C never worked, ALWAYS OUT AND THEY BLAME THE TENANTS FOR ALL THERE MAINTENANCE ISSUES !!! Management DOES AND will come up with all types of BOGUS charges GET YOUR MONEY TO PAY FOR THERE NOT ALL ALL KEPT UP MAINTENANCE WITH JUST ABOUT EVERY DEVICE IN THE APTS., I had so many problems with that unit AND THEY MANAGER, ITS REALLY A SHAME !!! THEY ARE FRAUD AND BIG LIARS. The neighbors are RUDE AND LOUD, all hours of the night, loud music’s, loud talking, partying all the times, AND kids running around, apartment ALL HOURS OF THE NIGHT. IT WAS SAID BY MANAGEMENT ITS A CURFEW FOR KIDS, but they doing nothing to enforce that. PLEASE KEEP ALL OF receipts because they keep poor records. Dogs and Cats every where, they come to your patio and front door and leaving some POOP JUST ABOUT every day. THE APTS., ARE INFESTED WITH ROACHES AND ANTS !!! THEY DO NOT SPRAY PROFESSIONALLY. MATTERS WHAT YOU BUY TO RID THESE PROBLEMS NOTHING HELPS. !!!!! THEY HAVE TO TEAR THOSE APTS DOWN AND START OVER TO GET RID OF ALL THOSE ROACHES AMD ANTS TO SAY THE LEAST ON THAT. LAST BUT NOT LEAST , CORAL ISLAND APTS., HAS A BAD BAD PROBLEMS WITH TENANTS WHO ARE SMOKING AND SELLING DRUGS. THE MANAGER/MANAGEMENT TEAM KNOWS ALL THIS IS TAKING PLACE AND TURNS A BLIND EYE, DOES NOTHING TO TRY AND RID THE APTS., COMPLEX OF THESE ISSUES. marijuana/MARIWANNA SMOKE REEKS THE ENTIRE APT., COMPLEX BEGINNING AT TIMES EARLY AS 6 AM IN THE MORNING ON UNTIL, NOON DAY ON TO THE EVENING, STOP A MINUTE OR TWO, THEN STARTS BACK UP.
The agreement of the move was that we pay the mortgage and that was all. The utilities would be provided without charge (garbage, water, sewage, electricity and etc.) and the house would be cleaned and have an exterminator come. We found that once we moved that none of this was correct. In addition, they left thousands of dollars worth of garbage for us to move, a hot tub plugged in (that we had no way to disconnect, massive electrical problems and a disgusting mass cockroach and flea infestation. I am 7 months pregnant and we still have no air conditioning! This house should be condemned! We have asked them numerous times to make the repairs, but they refuse and say they don’t have the money to do this. We have put all of our money into this place and no longer have the money to move away or help ourselves out of this mess. We have to rely on food stamps even in order to eat!
my electric plugs are broke, ac is out, landlord is constantly threating to kick me out, tells me i can work for him for $15 a hour but when i’m almost done with the job he tells me i’m only working $10, my ard is trashed out, my neighbor sells pills, he won’t do any maintence work he tells me topay for it if something breaks, structual damage, damage where he tried patching holes in te walls but didn’t do them right so the holes are back, no fire alarms or extinguisher.
Owners refuse to give me their name and refused to meet me or do a walk-through of the apartment with me. They refused to comply with me on several issues from the moment they bought the building, and the landlord knows exactly how to lie and manipulate the system to steal money from her tenants. They are disgusting filthy greedy liars and they think they can steal money from students because they are not longterm Texas residents. She is EVIL.
